This Guideline describes the current understanding of the role and function of a CVS.
Over the last 100 years, a network has developed, of organisations which describe themselves as Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS or an equivalent name). This Guideline details the key characteristics of a CVS. It recognises that CVS reflect local need and are diverse in nature, whilst having a common base of values, functions, and structures.
